Maud De Vries / BYCS
Bicycles transform cities, cities transform the world. As city-makers embrace more advanced "smart" technologies to solve complex problems, BYCS, of which I am co-founder, asserts that solutions are already here. And that bicycles make cities and citizens smarter, healthier, happier, and more resilient. Furthermore, bicycles, used en mass, will help to slow, and eventually reverse the damage caused by climate change. The humble bicycle is a major catalyst and symbol for human progress. To this end, we've set a very ambitious goal: 50by30. HALF of all trips by bicycle in cities worldwide by 2030. This creates a sense of urgency, attracts the best and brightest to a positive cause, and forces us to think about more radical and inspirational solutions. The first of which is the Bicycle Mayor Program and Network.
